A Mission to Provide Treated Water for 53 Schools

Skudai, Johor

A collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia through the Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE), Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC) was carried out as part of the societal project to improve well-being of the school community in rural area.

 This system which is capable of producing 1000 to 2000 liters of drinkable water per day with an addition of 5000 liters of water for daily usage is designed to support a community of 500 people. It can be operated with ease and has a low energy consumption. In the event of power outage or intermittent power supply, the system can be powered by the genset unit which was attached to the membrane unit.
